We, Hir Primak Enterprise, are actively engaged in importing, exporting and supplying Activated Carbon which is a form of carbon that is activated by a carefully controlled oxidation process to develop a porous carbon structure. The imperfect structure results in a high degree of porosity and over a broad range of pore sizes, from visible cracks and crevices to gaps and voids of molecular dimensions. The specified structure of carbon gives it a very large surface area which allows the carbon to adsorb a wide range of compounds. Activated carbon has the highest volume of adsorbing porosity of any material available to mankind.

Forms of activated carbon:

Three main forms of activated carbon are

  • 1) Granular Activated Carbon - Irregular shaped particles with sizes ranging from 0.2 to 5 mm.
  • 2) Powder Activated Carbon - Carbon with a size predominantly less than 0.21mm (70 US mesh)
  • 3) Pelleted Activated Carbon - Extruded and cylindrical shaped with diameters from 0.8 to 5 mm.

Physical Characteristics :

Hardness : The harder the activated carbon, the less it will crumble into fine particles during handling and use. High hardness levels and low dust levels. This improves material handling characteristics and is especially important where carbon fines cannot be tolerated.

Ash Content : This is the inorganic, inert, amorphous and unusable part present in the activated carbon. Lower the ash content, the better the activated carbon. The practical limit for the level of ash content allowed in the activated carbon is less than 2%.

Moisture : This is the amount of water physical bound on the activated carbon under normal condition. The practical limit for the level of moisture content allowed in the activated carbon is less than 3%.

pH Value : The pH Value of activated carbon is a measure of whether it is acidic or basic. Activated Carbon normally is specified for a pH of 9 – 11.

High surface area : up to 1400 m2/g. This allows for long life and high adsorption capacity.

Uses

In Water and Liquid applications for,

  • • Municipal water treatment - taste, odour and micro pollutant removal
  • • Domestic water treatment - in-line and cartridge filters

Process and Industrial water treatment - Reduction of total organic halogens (TOX), biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) and dechlorination.

Ground water treatment - Reduction of total organic halogens (TOX) and absorbable organic halogens (AOX)

Purification of edible oils and fats, alcoholic and soft drinks etc.

Gold mines for adsorption of metal and cyanide complexes from Carbon-in-pulp (CIP), Carbon-in-column (CIL) and heap leach circuits.

In Air and Gas applications for,

Air purification and environmental protection - Removal of solvents and hydrocarbons, deodorisation, air conditioning, flue gas treatment.

Cleaning process gases - Removal of contaminants from hydrogen, natural gas, carbon dioxide, solvent recovery.

Protection equipments - Gas masks, removal of harmful of toxic compounds, cigeratte filters.
